a family friendly festival with creative workshops, discussions, displays & demonstrations, live entertainment, artisan stalls, multi prize raffle and much more
Showcasing a huge array of exhibitors, workshops, discussions, demonstrations, art and performances, there’s inspiration for everyone. A wonderland of original designs created by eco-artists from materials which normally make their way to landfill will impress the eco-conscious, showcasing their successful transformation from trash to treasure. Combining the art of recycling and imagination, they create practical and beautiful bespoke homewares and artwork, jewellery and clothing. Visitors will see guitars created from hubcaps, bunting made from grain bags and baling twine, letterboxes and garden ornaments from old gas bottles and garden tools, rings from silverware, and jewellery from old tyres. Discussions and videos cover sustainable housing, community owned energy, energy efficiency and large-scale renewables. Water’s on tap and coffee baristas offer discounts for people who bring their own cups. And how about bringing your own plates and cutlery too to feast from the variety of food vendors’ tasty treats. Eco-friendly products galore will be available with reusable water bottles, cups and straws, shopping and produce bags, bees wax wraps, solar lights, natural soaps and personal care items. There’ll be loads of informative displays, including demonstrations on making laundry powder and a multipurpose cleaning spray. Learn about composting, worm farming and permaculture; choose from a huge range of plants, as well as alpaca poo for the garden and free native trees. Free workshops include the junk orchestra, tie dye, kokedama, baby toadstools, bee hotels, drumming, plus a native wildlife show. Experience a moving traditional acknowledgement ceremony, and be entertained with Gypsy Caravan tribal dancers, local musicians, a bush poet, acrobatic display and Madam Mulch, the composting and recycling queen. All organic waste will be collected and composted, rather than going to landfill. Look out for Madam Mulch who will chat to guests about where to put their ‘waste’ and point them in the direction of our specially designated bins for compostable crockery and cutlery and food scraps. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the multi prize raffle has over $1,500 in prizes. Entry is via a gold coin donation, and you can keep up to date on facebook via our event at https://www.facebook.com/events/27853...
