POLICE are trying to round up a goat that has escaped a property in Ipswich this morning.

The rogue animal was last seen running along Old Toowoomba Rd near the One Mile Bridge about 9am.

Safe City cameras rolled as the goat held up traffic.

Mayor Paul Pisasale said the footage showed the value of the Safe City network.

"Safe City proves yet again you shouldn't be a silly billy in Ipswich," he said.

"If you're acting the goat you will get caught."

Police believe the animal escaped from a property at Karrabin earlier this morning.

Several calls have been received regarding the animal escaping its property in the last few days.

There are no reports of major traffic hazard, although motorists are urged to take caution.
