YouTube to world stage

LOS Angeles beckons for Ipswich dancer Tara Lowe as she takes part in what is known as the Olympic Games of performing arts.

The 19-year-old Brassall dancer auditioned via YouTube for the prestigious World Championships of Performing Arts.

Ms Lowe is excited about the prospect of showing her musical and dancing talents on an international stage.

"I don't know too much about it. I thought I'd just send it in and have a go. I didn't really think about it until they rang me," she said.

"It's definitely bigger than any past competition and it will be really different and I don't know exactly what it will be like. It will be interesting to get there and see."

Entrance into the competition includes a week of workshops for the contestants to hone their routines before they take the stage.

Ms Lowe leaves for LA on June 29.
