YOUR SAY: Despair over changes impacting mechanics

IT WAS with absolute horror that I learnt the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, the motor car company peak body, is limiting independent mechanics and garages from accessing the specialist data and diagnostic tools they need to repair and maintain our computer driven cars.

This restricts our choices as consumers and restricts the ability of independent mechanics to provide professional and up-to-date car servicing.

The flow-on effects could mean higher costs, garages and mechanics losing business and car owners having fewer options for repairs and maintenance.

Consumers and local businesses seem to be targeted yet again.

"Less is not more" and I just despair.
