YOUR GUIDE: 50 ways to get fit for free this month

FINDING motivation to change your lifestyle and start exercising can be hard, especially on cold winter mornings.

But the change of season has also brought a new opportunity to get fit for free with a host of activities around the city.

This month fitness and family fun activities will be held across 13 different venues as part of Ipswich City Council's Active Parks Month initiative.

The activities include boxercise, yoga, line dancing and outdoor gym sessions, and there's no need to book - you can just turn up on the day.

The sessions vary in times with several options before and after work hours and the Saturday Family Soccer Session is being held in a different park around the region each week.

Council's parks and sport Committee Chairman Councillor David Morrison said the initiative was all about helping people develop healthy habits.

"Activities will be tailored according to ability so participants can feel comfortable that they're taking part in exercises that are both effective and fun," Cr Morrison said.

"People can simply show up on the day, but should remember to bring a towel, water, sunscreen and hat."
