Young England side holds Brazil to draw

AN inexperienced England has had a second goalless draw with a world super power at Wembley.

Just a few days after keeping World Cup champions Germany scoreless, England held Brazil to no goals in front of 84,595 fans.

The best chances for Brazil came from a long-range strike from Fernandinho shaved the post, while keeper Joe Hart saved from Paulinho.

Dominic Solanke could have won it for England on his international debut in the closing minutes, but he failed to control Ashley Young's cross, enabling goalkeeper Ramses Becker to gather the ball.

"I thought the defensive backline were phenomenal,” Hart told ITV.

"We have played two of the best teams in the world, we didn't win, but we didn't lose.”

Meanwhile, in Krasnodar, Russia, Argentina were suprisingly beaten 4-2 by Nigeria.

There was also a scare for star striker Sergio Aguero, who was taken to hospital for a check-up after fainting during the half-time break.

His hospital visit proved to be a short one, as he was soon reunited with the Argentina squad.

The Argentine Football Association tweeted: "The Argentina striker Sergio Aguero is already at the hotel with the rest of the delegation.”

Earlier, the AFA confirmed that Aguero "had a blackout and was taken (to hospital) so routine examinations were made only as a precaution”.

In Germany, substitute Lars Stindl scored in stoppage time to give the home side a 2-2 draw with France and ensure the world champions ended the year undefeated.

Alexandre Lacazette scored twice for France either side of a goal by Timo Werner.

In St Petersburg, World Cup hosts Russia came from a goal down twice to draw 3-3 with Spain.

The draw ended a six-game winning streak for Julen Lopetegui's team.
