Maryborough XXXX Origins Beer

THE Heritage City will be exposed to thousands of beer drinkers across Queensland thanks to an iconic beer company.

Beer drinkers can now get commemorative XXXX Origins stubbies labelled with Maryborough.

And it's a move which has impressed beer connoisseur Ben Price.

The fly-in fly-out worker said his hard earned thirst had been quenched by the sweet taste of a Maryborough XXXX Origin.

"Bloody oath I drink, but that was the first XXXX I tried," he said.

"And I didn't mind it."

A regular at Maryborough's Carriers Arms Hotel, Ben said the advertising was a great ploy.

"People would love it," he said. "I'm going to keep the bottles with Maryborough on them, for sure."

But those who delight in all things Maryborough may have to have luck on their side to find one.

More than 35 other regional Queensland towns have also been commemoratively labelled on the beer with the different namesakes sold mixed in packs and cartons. XXXX spokesperson Tanya Marler said the move had been great way to celebrate the "varied and distinct personalities of Queensland's many towns".

"We couldn't think of a better way to recognise their significance," she said.

"There's a pretty good chance every Queenslander will have a connection to at least one of the 36 towns."

The limited edition beers, sold in 330 millilitre bottles, will be sold until the end of February next year.

36 towns chosen also include: include Atherton, Bellbowrie, Birdsville, Bluff, Cairns, Calen, Chinchilla, Cloncurry, Coolangatta, Curra, Deeragun, Drillham, Emerald, Foxdale, Gatton, Gin Gin, Giru, Gladstone, Goondiwindi, Herberton, Inkerman, Jimboomba, Karara, Laura, Mirani, Mount Isa, Nobby, Rockhampton, Roma, Stonehenge, Toowoomba, Townsville, Warwick and Windorah.
