Wulkuraka home destroyed by fire

POLICE are investigating whether a group of squatters was responsible for a fire which has destroyed a house at Wulkuraka.

Firefighters were called out to the vacant timber house on Arnold Street just after midnight Thursday morning.

By the time they arrived the house was well alight.

Police have kept the property – known to be frequented by squatters – under guard as forensic officers and detectives from the CIB begin their investigations.

Several detectives and uniform police are also conducting a doorknock of the area.

Anyone with information that could assist police should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
