What a summer stinker! Toowoomba mercury hits 40

TOOWOOMBA is sweltering through another summer stinker, with the mercury surpassing 40 degrees in the city's southern suburbs.

One Hodgson Vale resident reported it was 40.1 degrees at 3.20pm.

In Toowoomba, it got to 33.8 degrees at 3pm.

Across the Darling Downs, temperatures are soaring.

It was 42.5 degrees at Charleville at 3.03pm, 41.8 degrees at Roma at 2.02pm and 42.9 degrees in St George at 2.37pm.

Dalby hit 38.3 at 2.52pm and Miles reached 39.5 at 2.07pm.
