Running, cycling or racing: Workouts a key element for Walsh
THE necessary fitness regime Ash Walsh follows may seem like a burden coming on top of his numerous other obligations.
Walsh knows the fitter he is the better he'll drive, particularly after hours behind the wheel tearing around Mount Panorama.
But his workouts are something to be enjoyed.
"It doesn't feel like work," Walsh said. "It's enjoyable to do.
"It gives me a good balance."
While he is running or cycling Walsh is able to clear his mind of all the distractions he has to deal with on a day-to-day basis.
If Walsh is riding on the road, he can be found on the Centenary Highway pedalling out up to 100km.
On the mountain bike it is 20-30km rides through the bush.
A short run of 5km will usually be followed by a gym workout.
A long run will be 10km, with any further too much of an injury risk.
