Work starts on $10 million Road 10

WORK is under way on a significant new road link in Ipswich City's eastern suburbs.

Ipswich City Council City Infrastructure Committee chairman Cheryl Bromage said contractors had begun work on the new Springfield road.

Construction is expected to take 12 months to complete.

"Known as Road 10, this road is a new connection link between Augusta Parkway through to the Springfield Greenbank Arterial," Cr Bromage said.

"Once fully constructed this road will provide a convenient link to the Springfield Central Railway Station which is now in the final stages of being built."

Cr Bromage said the $10 million road project was among $40 million worth of transport network capital improvements and rehabilitation works announced in council's 2013-2014 Budget.
