Wood be thief arrested

A LATE night walk turned ugly for a woman in Lowood when she was allegedly robbed by a man with a piece of wood.

Police have charged a 19-year-old man with armed robbery, accusing him of threatening the woman at 1.45am outside a shop on Walter Street.

Police allege he made demands of the woman, took her handbag and fled the scene.

Police arrested the man at a Lowood house later in the day.

He will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
