Women bidding to keep unbeaten QBL run going
COMING to the Queensland Basketball League games at Ipswich stadium on Saturday night?
Remember to bring along a blanket to keep you warm.
After the games the QBL players will be collecting those blankets to donate to The Salvation Army.
Round 14 of the QBL season features the Force coming head-to-head with the Northside Wizards.
For the women, fresh off the break, it's a chance to start building momentum heading into the final weeks.
Northside are a solid team, sitting one place below us on the ladder.
If we play four quarters of high intensity defence, run our plays and push each other, our team will prevail. If we succeed in getting the win this weekend, we would have gone through the regular season undefeated on our home court, achieving one of our goals set out at the beginning of the year.
The seventh-placed Force men will battle it out against a fifth-placed Wizards outfit.
While the men have cemented a quarter-final spot, the race to secure the home court advantage is still very much alive.
A win here can increase their chances of hosting a quarter-final game along with the Force women who are already guaranteed to play host in the first round of finals.
A REMINDER about our upcoming Legends of our League match.
Ipswich basketball is looking for an Eagle of old, who played in competitions such as the CBA, ABA or Southern Cross, or more recent Force retired QBL men's or women's players.
They will form a team.
The event will take place on Saturday, August 16, from 5pm at the Cotton On Foundation Stadium.
If you are interested in coming along to catch up with old mates and play a game for "old times' sake," contact us through the Ipswich Basketball Facebook Page.
THE Aussie Hoops (ages 5-10) and Small Ball (under 5) programs have resumed on Saturdays.
If you have a child who is interested in playing basketball but is not yet ready for club competition, these programs are exactly what you are looking for.
Come down to the stadium at 11.30am and check them out. Phone the office on 3282 4328 for more details.
