Usually they are minor and do not impact on our lives.

Many, like the author, have several problems and they do affect their lives.

Barbara Arrowsmith-Young is an extraordinary individual.

She was born with a number of disabilities but these did not stop her gaining a master's degree in school psychology.

In graduate school she came upon Luria's book The Man with a Shattered World.

This opened up her world.

She has since begun a school in Toronto and founded a program to train teachers.

For decades she has been using certain mental tasks and cognitive exercises to change the structure of her brain and those of others.

This is possible because of neuroplasticity.

The good news is we all have this capability and can benefit from transforming our brains.

This is a remarkable story about an exceptional woman.
