Woman on murder charge after stabbing man in Caboolture

POLICE have charged a 22-year-old woman with one count of murder after a 26-year-old man was stabbed in Caboolture yesterday morning.

Acting Detective Inspector Lyndal Wiggins said the man had walked into a Lower King St service station about 1.15am and requested help for an apparent stab wound.

He was transported to Caboolture Hospital and treated for a single stab wound to the abdomen but died a short time later.

Acting Det Insp Wiggins said the death was treated as suspicious from the outset.

Police had two women in their 20s in custody yesterday morning who were assisting with inquiries.

One of them, a 22-year-old Caboolture woman, was later charged with murder.

"I won't disclose their relationship (to the victim) other than to say they were known to each other," Act Det Insp Wiggins said.

"(The women) were located in the vicinity of the incident and subsequently we spoke to them and brought them to the Caboolture station to allow them to assist us with our inquiries," she said.

Crime scenes were established yesterday around Lower King St and nearby Dennis and Francis Sts as detectives, uniformed and scenes of crime officers, and a dog squad unit investigated.

Act Det Insp Wiggins said several exhibits had been seized.

She said the victim was a father, but there were no children present during the incident.

"This is extremely tragic and our condolences go to the victim's family," she said.

The woman charged will appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court today.
