Woman loses control of car, crashes into tree

A WOMAN in her 20s has been taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition after she lost control of her vehicle this morning.

At 8.46am the woman was travelling northbound on the New England Hwy when she veered around a bend and crashed into a tree on the side of the road.

The road was temporarily blocked, near Toowoomba Christian College as emergency services attended the scene.

Queensland Ambulance Service attended to the woman who was conscious and breathing upon arrival.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services removed the driver's door to get the driver out.

QFES inspector Neil Fanning attended the scene.

"The woman lost control of the vehicle coming around the bend and ended up in the bushes on the side of the road," he said.

"She was entrapped upon our arrival but conscious and breathing, being treated on scene.

"We removed a large tree the car was sitting against, as well as the door and she was then transported to Toowoomba Hospital."

Insp. Fanning wanted to warn people about distracted driving.

"She may not have been distracted, we don't yet but distracted drivers cause accidents," he said.

"It is far better to be safe on the roads."
