Woman flown off Fraser Island with suspected snake bite
A 20-YEAR-old woman has been flown to hospital after a suspected snake bite on Fraser Island.
An RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter spokeswoman said the Bundaberg-based crew was sent to Kingfisher Bay Resort at 8.30pm on Tuesday night.
She said the Sydney woman told the rescue crew she was walking along a path at the resort when she decided to take a shortcut through the bush.
While off the path, the tourist said she was bitten by a snake, which she described as being just over half a metre long with yellow colouring.
The spokeswoman said the university student was given first-aid at the resort, before receiving further treatment from the rescue crew and a Queensland Ambulance Service paramedic on the island.
The patient was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition, the spokeswoman said.
