Woman armed with hammer allegedly assaults elderly woman

A WOMAN is in the watch house after she allegedly entered a property armed with a hammer before assaulting an elderly woman. 

At about 11.15am Police were called to an address on Hansford Road at Coombabah on the Gold Coast.

 

The woman, aged in her 50's, allegedly entered the yard of an elderly couple armed with a hammer and knocked on the back door.  

Police say she approached an elderly woman and pushed her over.

The elderly woman was assessed by Queensland Ambulance officers and did not require transport to hospital for treatment.

Runaway Bay Police conducted inquiries in the area and information obtained led them to an address in Kangaroo Avenue, where the female was apprehended.

She is currently in Southport Watch house, where she is assisting police with their enquiries.
