Wivenhoe Dam spillway set to close

THE spillway gate at Wivenhoe Dam which has been open since Monday will be closed on Thursday afternoon.

Recent rain forced the south-east Queensland water grid authority to release water from the dam to bring it back to just below 100 per cent as part of flood management plans.

Somerset Dam is releasing about 12,000 megalitres of water into Wivenhoe Dam each day.

Anyone seeking information on dams in the region can phone 1800 613 122.
