WIN: How Christmas would work if Aussies had invented it

THERE'S plenty about Christmas we'd rather not import along with the rest of the holiday, and that's not including the financial headaches.

Besides the heat, the pagan symbolism and the heavy European and American influences, it'd be fantastic if we didn't also have the guilt, the heavy spending and the credit card repayments.

That's why we're jumping in to help with our Cashed up for Christmas giveaway gives readers the chance to win one of six EFTPOS cards pre-loaded with $1000 spending money.

Top ten ways Christmas would be different if Aussies had invented it

1. The tree would be taller and we'd put ourselves under it to get out of the sun.

2. On second thought, instead of a Christmas tree, make it a Christmas fan.

3. Instead of stockings on the fireplace there would be footy socks on the barbeque - for better or worse.

4. Santa would fly a giant Victa mower.

5. Egg nog would be less egg and more nog.

6. Christmas lunch would have a scoreboard and competition would be fierce.

7. Ditch the fan - Christmas air conditioning.

8. It would always be a Monday for public holiday reasons.

9. All carols would have a guitar solo.

10. Jesus would be referred to as Jezz, Jezza or Bruce.

It's also been pointed out that instead of reindeer, it'd be a bunch of blue heelers, all named 'Red' (to avoid the confusion).

What would you change about Christmas to make it more Australia-friendly ?
