AUSTRALIAN country singer John Williamson will perform in Ipswich next year as part of his Big Red tour.

He will play at the Ipswich Civic Centre on May 29 for the release of his album, The Big Red.

He will also churn out his hits.

Williamson's career spans more than 40 years, but he is still going strong. His tributes to Australian legends and unsung heroes with ballads capture the nation's spirit in song.

From Old Man Emu back in 1970, to songs from The Big Red, Williamson has written more than 400 songs.
