Will Entourage get a Hollywood ending?

TV SHOWS, like overindulged movie stars, must eventually grow up and that is what Entourage has grappled with in recent years. In the early seasons, as Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) moved effortlessly up the Hollywood ladder, taking childhood friends E, Turtle and Drama with him, it played out as a boy's own fantasy about the Hollywood high life and the sanctity of male friendship.

There were some gentle digs at the venality of the film industry but it was predominantly a world of soft drugs, easy sex and few consequences.

Then came the growing pains, as Vince's entourage began to develop their own careers and the show took a darker turn. This culminated last season when Vince hooked up with porn star Sasha Grey, developed a coke habit and self-destructed.

Our last look at Vince at the end of last season was of a fading superstar at his lowest ebb: bruised, bloody and busted with a bag of drugs.

This recognition of Hollywood's darker side might have given the show a veneer of realism but it detracted from the cartoonish sense of fun.
