Where do the children play?

LATELY, we have been inundated with statements from this expert and that professional about how the amount of time children spend on "screen-time" is affecting their mental and physical capacity to develop.

These same experts are professing that the only cure is to make the children go outside into the yard and play, get some sunshine, run around and generally be a normal child.

Well look around because that is never going to happen. Our governments, councils and developers are seeing to that.

Most developments these days are building houses on blocks that are so small that there is virtually no sunshine on the "yard" that is not big enough to play hopscotch.

There is no room to play anything, fences as tall as one's roof allows no breeze, and rarely does the sun touch the ground. In many cases, roofs almost touch.

The only reason these developments can get approval is greed. Greed from councils and government and more so from developers.

Even if you buy land, there are covenants to state what kind of home you can have, how big and what colour.

All this so developers can rake in the maximum profit.

So, where do the children play?
