What's going on at Sunshine Plaza?

UPDATE, 12:25PM: A screaming alarm is confusing shoppers and frustrating emergency response officers, as fire crews return to Sunshine Plaza for the fourth time in 12 hours.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman revealed that crews have been called to the Plaza Parade centre four times since midnight due to issues with a faulty panel in the fire control room.

Crews raced to the plaza just before 1am this morning to discover a screaming alarm, but no smoke or fire. The alarm was reset and centre management were notified.

The siren went off again at 10.46am, 11.17am, and most recently at 11.55am.

The QFES spokesman said the panels were now being tested after last night's issue, and a maintenance crew had been contacted to look at the faulty fire panel.

EARLIER, 11:44AM: An alarm is screaming at the Sunshine Coast's biggest shopping centre.

Emergency services have confirmed that they are responding to an incident at Sunshine Plaza.

A shopper told the Daily they witnessed fire doors slamming down as sirens wailed.

The plaza has not been evacuated.

More to come.
