Wet forces meeting off

IPSWICH Turf Club (ITC) was forced to call off its planned New Year's Eve family race day due to the track being too wet.

ITC general manager Brett Kitching said Racing Queensland stewards inspected the track on Thursday and again yesterday morning.

“They gave it every opportunity to be safe to race on, but it hadn't recovered well enough,” Kitching said. “It had six inches (150mm) on it since the last time we raced.”

The family race day was scheduled to feature action on and off the track including a jumping castle, face painting and animal farm. The next race meeting at Bundamba is on Friday.
