Pisasale on Monday: Week reflected we're on the move

RENOVATIONS to transform the former fire station headquarters at 101 Limestone St, Ipswich, into the region's new digital innovation and start-up hub officially started this week.

Fire Station 101 will position Ipswich as a leader of the digital economy, giving life to new businesses and fostering the expansion of existing businesses.

A big thank you to the principals, staff, and students of Westside Christian College, St Edmund's College, Redbank Plains State High School, and Ipswich State High School who all invited me to help out at their academic awards evenings this week.

On Wednesday, I joined a delegation to welcome the new RAAF C-17A Globemaster to Amberley. This huge new addition to the base is just a small part of the constant growth of Amberley.

It's an extraordinary plane our whole city can be proud calls home.

I was honoured to present a certificate and plaque marking the official opening of the Ipswich Cardiac Centre which provides state of the art cardiac care right here in Ipswich.

Fantastic effort guys, what an addition to our local health sector.

On Friday, we launched Ipswich's first integrated transport plan iGO.

This plan lays out our goals for smooth, reliable transport across the city as we grow.

Whether you're a commuter, cyclist, or public transport user, this plan will keep you moving comfortably for many years to come.

On the weekend I joined with members of the Pine Mountain and Districts Historical Society at the Pine Mountain Cricket Pitch for a dedication service for the new monument to soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War.

These memorials are so important and remind us of the sacrifice made by so many for the freedom and peace we enjoy today.

The Ipswich Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Awards at the Civic Centre on Saturday night was a tremendous recognition of the amazing talent and hard work of our local businesses.

It was terrific to see so many businesses really embracing innovation and making a great go of it locally. Speaking of local business, congratulations to the team behind our new games and hobbies store GamesHound. Excellent effort guys, thanks for backing Ipswich.
