Blues boys showing no fear in lead up to Suncorp showdown

BLUES firebrands Anthony Watmough and Michael Jennings certainly won't fear the dreaded cauldron of Suncorp Stadium for Origin II next Wednesday night.

The Queenslanders cannot wait for redemption following their 14-6 loss in game one, but that has not fazed Watmough.

"We've won there before and we know what we have to do," he said, after confirming he would play despite picking up a corked leg against the Bulldogs last Friday night.

"We know what the environment's going to be, especially after a loss. It's going to be hostile and we expect nothing less."'

Jennings, a proven performer for the Blues, but also the man who controversially ran in to punch Brent Tate in Orgin I last year, is also not scared of what lies ahead.

"Obviously 50,000 fans hating you is daunting, but once you're on the field it all goes out the door," he said.

Queensland assistant Michael Hagan suggested the Maroons may go out on Wednesday night looking for a "square up", following Blues captain Paul Gallen copping a one-match suspension for punching Nate Myles in the head in game one.

But coach Mal Meninga knocked that back, saying he did not coach his team that way.

Meninga also rejected reports he could end up mentoring an NRL club next year, with reports the Cowboys and Broncos were interested in his services.

"I enjoy the high-performance side of things, I'm enjoying developing the game," he said.

"I think I'm more suited in that role than the week-in, week-out stuff. I don't think I've got the personality for it, and I like a bit of down time.

"I've been there, done that (with Canberra)."
