The toddler reportedly clung to the side of the building for up to a minute before a carer realised what was happening and snatched the child back from the brink of tragedy.

9 News reports that the drama unfolded in Guara II, a city near the Brazil capital of Brasilia.

Social workers visited the apartment in the wake of the drama, according to local media.

The child's grandfather told social workers he wasn't home when the drama unfolded, having left the toddler with a the carer, but has now installed protective mesh over the window.
