Ipswich not keen on home delivery of Maccas

IS IT time Ipswich McDonald's fans were able to get their favourite fast food home delivered?

McDonald's already home delivers in Sydney and will launch the service in Hervey Bay later this month, the first Queensland city to receive it.

McDonald's has also confirmed the first Victorian and Western Australian trials will begin later this month.

In Hervey Bay, home delivery will be available from 6pm-9pm seven days a week, with a minimum order of $25.

It certainly sparked a super-sized debate online with more than 120 people voting on the QT website (Yes - 35%, No - 64%) and scores of people commenting on the QT Facebook page

Nutritionists and health experts have reacted with alarm to the news, given the state's obesity levels.

Ipswich has one of the highest obesity rates in the state. About 62% of Ipswich adults are overweight or obese, with more than 72% of adults over 55 tipping the scales at an unhealthy weight.

A McDonald's spokesman said: "Customers choosing to take advantage of this trial service can order from a nearly full range of menu items, including burgers, French fries, salads or wraps, and as always can review comprehensive nutrition and ingredient information on our website."

Would you support home delivery of McDonald's in Ipswich?
