Walkers in line for NRL gig says Rugby League Week

REPORTS today suggest that Ipswich Jets coaches Ben and Shane Walker are in line for an NRL deal, perhaps as soon as 2016.

The former NRL stars coached the Jets to Intrust Super Cup and NRL State Championship titles this year.

They were interviewed for the Newcastle Knights job before Nathan Brown was given the job.

The Rugby League Week (RLW) Mole, who writes a column on behind the scenes movements in the NRL, is reporting today that the Walkers may have a job in 2016

"Ipswich Jets co-coaches Ben and Shane Walker have been lined up by a struggling NRL club to take the reins early next season should the team again struggle," the RLW Mole reports at rugbyleagueweek.com.au

"The former NRL stars had stunning success in guiding their innovative Jets to wins in the Intrust Super Cup and NRL State Championship titles in consecutive weeks, and have caught the eye of several NRL clubs."

The article does not stipulate which club they are in line for.

The Walkers are contracted to the Jets for 2016 but the club will not stand in their way should a head coaching role in the NRL become available.
