Photographer turns wildlife warrior to save tortoise

TURNS out tortoise are not as slow as people think.

A tortoise, curious to be part of the Sunshine Coast Daily news team, made the brave mission from the lake outside our office, over the grass and down the kerb of the staff car park.

The tortoise sat still on the concrete as Sunshine Coast Daily photographer Iain Curry took the moment to snap a few photos, all the while praying the tortoise wasn't a snapper himself.

After his photo shoot, the turtle had enough and scurried underneath a four-wheel-drive parked in the car park.

Not the best spot for any animal, even one living in a hard shell.

Iain quickly turned from photographer to wildlife warrior, coaxing the turtle out from under the car, before scooping it up returning him to the water's edge.

The tortoise was just as quick to splash back into the water as he was to finish his photo shoot.
