Viewers vote for House Rules winner

THE public will decide whose mortgage gets paid off in tonight's House Rules grand final.

South Australia's Carly Shulz and Leighton Brow are up against NSW couple Michelle and Steve Ball for the inaugural prize.

Seven's renovation show, from the creators of My Kitchen Rules, wasn't a ratings hit initially but has slowly built an audience against Nine's The Voice and The Block Sky High.

The show has recently been averaging 1.8 million viewers nationally and Seven yesterday confirmed it has commissioned a second series.

Voting closes at 8.20pm AEST tonight, with viewers deciding which team will have their mortgage completely paid off.

"It's amazing to think we have a one in two chance of winning our entire mortgage paid off," Michelle Ball said.

The teams are renovating two final spaces at each other's houses, a basement and a shed, following last week's quick-fire garden renovation week.

The grand final will be broadcast live from both teams' newly renovated homes.

Host Johanna Griggs will be at Melbourne's Home Base with the previously eliminated teams as the winning team is announced.

For details on voting go to the Yahoo 7 website.

The House Rules grand final airs tonight at 7.30pm on Channel 7.
