VIDEO: Rock throwing issue rears its head in Toowoomba

THE issue of people throwing rocks has reared its head once again in Toowoomba, this time in the form of an online video.

A Toowoomba man has published a video entitled "Jerk kids throw rocks at traffic".

In the video the man is driving west along Tor St when he passes two people walking on the footpath.

A loud bang is then heard as a rock ricochets of his car.

The man is then heard to say, it's those (expletive) kids again."

Toowoomba residents have been vocal about the problem on social media with a number of people reporting children throwing rocks at their houses and cars.

An online poll showed 92% of residents think that rock throwing is a problem in Toowoomba.

Police have warned of the danger of rock throwing.

"It can be dangerous and may smash a windscreen and cause the driver to have a crash," Toowoomba Crime Prevention Unit Acting Sgt Leigh James said.

She said even if it didn't cause a crash it could still damage someone's prized possession.

Sgt James said rock damage had the potential to cost motorists a lot of money.
