DUTCH goalscoring master Robin van Persie says he is part of a special team after scoring twice in Manchester United's 4-0 thumping of Wigan.

The goals were his 18th and 19th for United since joining from Arsenal and helped the Reds preserve their seven-point lead over rival Manchester City at the top of the English Premier League.

Javier Hernandez scored the other two goals as United romped home to keep Wigan in trouble at the bottom.

"We have to look at it game by game but everybody wants to be champions. I feel that I'm surrounded by champions," van Persie said after the win.

At Etihad Stadium, City had to work hard but eventually was too good for Stoke City and won 3-0 thanks to goals from Pablo Zabaleta, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero, who scored a late penalty.

Tottenham came from behind to beat strugglers Reading 3-1 at White Hart Lane, while Aston Villa was denied a surprise win at Swansea by Danny Graham's late strike in a 2-2 draw.

In other games Fulham surprisingly won 2-1 at West Brom, while Southampton held Arsenal 1-1 at home.

West Ham beat Norwich City 2-1 at Upton Park.
