Mayor on Monday: V8's revved up for 400

THE Coates Hire Ipswich 400 is on this weekend at Queensland Raceway and it's not too late to get tickets and enjoy a weekend of action-packed racing and entertainment with the whole family.

We're very excited to have a round of the V8 Supercar Series in our great city and I look forward to welcoming all the teams, drivers and spectators.

If you would like to meet some of the drivers of the V8 Supercars, they will be dropping into Coates Hire at Churchill on Wednesday between 11.30am and 12.30pm for a meet and greet.

Bring along your memorabilia for signing and say hi to your favourite drivers.

The V8 Ipswich 400 Transporter Parade is also back this year. Head in to Ipswich and grab a spot near d'Arcy Doyle Place and watch these massive trucks drive through town between noon and 1pm on Wednesday.

It is a spectacular sight not to me missed. A route map is available on council's website.

The 10th annual Park2Park was held yesterday to raise funds for the Ipswich Hospital Foundation.

Well done to all the sponsors, volunteers and participants on a fantastic event and for supporting a tremendous cause.

I would like to wish the West Moreton Anglican College a happy 21st anniversary.

The college held a special dinner dance night on the weekend to celebrate the milestone.

If anyone was watching the Great South East yesterday afternoon you may have spotted a piece on the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale. The group were featured in a segment of the show and it was great to see that positive exposure for the city.

If you love steam then you won't want to miss the Grandchester Model Live Steam Association's opening and 16th birthday celebration on Sunday, August 3. There will be a presentation for the best model steam on display and if you want to check it out, they are located at 2 Ipswich St, Grandchester.

Thanks to Pastor Gary Schultz and Ministers who attended Wednesday morning's annual Ipswich Ministers' Fellowship Breakfast. You do a lot of great work in the city and it is appreciated by all.
