US in sights as Opals rack up second victory

A WIN against Belarus tonight will see Australia finish on top of Group C and on track for a potential semi-final clash against the USA at the world championship in Turkey.

WNBA stars Penny Taylor and Erin Phillips again led the way as the Opals made it back-to-back wins with a 87-54 thrashing of Korea in game two.

Taylor finished with 11 points, four rebounds and five assists in just 18 minutes as coach Brendan Joyce again took the opportunity to give his bench players plenty of game time.

All 12 players got their names on the scoresheet, Laura Hodges leading the way with 14 points while Marianna Tolo and Belinda Snell both scored 13.

As they did in the opening game against Cuba, the Opals raced out to a big lead at quarter-time (25-9) and extended that at every break, taking a 29-point advantage into the last quarter.
