VIDEO: Two killed in horrific crash south of Ipswich

UPDATE 1pm: POLICE are still trying to confirm the identities of two people who died in a horrific head-on collision at Peak Crossing this morning.

Two women were killed instantly when the small sedan they traveling in crossed onto the incorrect side of Ipswich-Boonah Rd near the intersection of Mt Flinders Rd, colliding with a garbage truck.

Police say the sedan was headed north and negotiating a long left-hand bend when it crossed onto the wrong side.

The truck driver was not physically injured in the crash.

The Forensic Crash unit will investigate further.

 

EARLIER: TWO people have been killed in a horrific accident just south of Ipswich this morning.

Police say a small sedan and a truck collided at the intersection of Ipswich-Boonah Rd and Mt Flinders Rd about 10.05am.

Two occupants of the sedan were found deceased at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.

Police have shut Ipswich-Boonah Rd at the crash scene and are diverting traffic up School Rd at Purga and onto Middle Rd.
