Twitter about fashion gossip
LOUD and proud design diva Leigh Buchanan stole the show on reality TV series Project Runway Australia last year.
Now the Ipswich-born fan favourite and series runner-up has scored a new role with 3 Mobile, with a new website, three.com.au/runway, featuring his Twitter feed and weekly video commentary.
Buchanan said as part of the role he would be critiquing this season's designers and having a bit of a gossip.
“It is fabulous. It is great to be on the other side,” Buchanan said.
“I can enjoy the craziness without having to be a part of it.
“I did stress my way through the whole series.”
The Brisbane-based fashionista has returned to his role designing at fashion house Easton Pearson.
He said he had fond memories of his time on the show and the friendships he had made with fellow designers such as Project Runway winner Julie Grbac.
“I think going through such an intense experience like reality TV, you form such a bond with people,” Buchanan said.
“You go through such a stressful experience and in such a close proximity you form close friendships.”
In a return to its fashion designer beginnings, Buchanan will also MC his former alumni, the Metropolitan South TAFE's, graduation fashion parade on July 28.
“It is always a walk down memory lane going out to Mt Gravatt,” he said.
“I always love to see the next generation going through. You often got really good ideas.
“It is fun to see what they come up with.”
Fittingly, the fashion designer was busy at work at his sewing machine during the interview, the machine kept busy with requests for wedding dresses and ball gowns.
The designs became the signature for the former local during his time on the reality show last year.
“It was a big, life-changing event,” Buchanan said.
“If I could change anything it would just be to really enjoy it more and have a plan for what I wanted to get from it.”
Project Runway Australia screens Wednesday nights at 8.30pm on cable TV channel Arena.
