Police clear wreckage after travelling truck catches fire

LATEST: A truck and trailer-mounted tree mulcher have been destroyed by a fire which started while the vehicle was travelling along Haigslea-Amberley Rd.

The driver of the truck pulled over at the side of the road at Amberley about 12.30pm after noticing fire coming from the mulcher.

Occupants of the vehicle tried to disconnect the trailer but the flames were too intense, spreading to the truck and an adjacent paddock.

Police confirmed that the truck was not involved in a road accident, as was first reported.

There are no injuries.

Police have blocked Haigslea-Amberley Rd at Amberley while the wreckage is cleared.
