Free sensory cinema for Day of People with Disability

TO commemorate International Day of People with Disability Ipswich City Council will be hosting a free sensory cinema day at Limelight Cinemas at Riverlink Shopping Centre on December 5.

Cr Sheila Ireland said the cinemas would host a free advanced screening of the soon-to-be released The Peanuts Movie.

The event will run from 8.30am to 12.30pm with the movie screening from 10am.

"Prior to the movie screening a number of activities will be on offer for attendees including stalls providing information, guidance and advice to families on matters relating to disability support, face painting for children and arts and crafts by local artists with disabilities," Cr Ireland said.

"A sensory cinema day is intended for families with special needs where they can enjoy a trip to the movies and feel included and free of judgement."

Cr Ireland said the movie would be suitable for all ages including families, young people and seniors and patrons would receive free snacks to enjoy during the movie.

To RSVP, phone 3810 6655 by November 27. International Day of People with Disability is commemorated worldwide on December 3.
