Trail bike rider flown to hospital after bushland crash
A TRAIL bike rider has been airlifted by an RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter from Beerburrum State Forest.
The 54-year-old Brisbane man was riding his trail bike through dense bushland when he lost control and crashed into a tree.
He suffered a short period of unconsciousness and a suspected chest injury.
The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was dispatched from the Maroochydore base at 9am.
Once on scene, CareFlight's Critical Care Doctor and Flight Intensive Care Paramedic were winched from the helicopter to the injured man.
Together with the Queensland Ambulance Service on the ground, CareFlight's medical team assessed and treated the patient before transferring him to a road ambulance.
The patient was transported by QAS to the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter, which landed on a track approximately one kilometre from the crash site.
He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.
