Early Christmas for flood kids

LUCKY toddlers at Goodna and Amberley playgroups will receive an early Christmas present in the form of extra toys and resources.

Goodna facilitator Lynn McCrea said her Goodna Mothers' Playgroup would receive $5000 funding in total from three separate donors.

"So far we've bought Lego, rockers, play tunnels and other toys," Ms McCrea said. "Altogether, we'll get $2000 from Credit Suisse through the Keep Kids Playing Flood Appeal, $2000 from Ipswich City Council and $1000 from RACQ."

Ms McCrea said she hoped the resources would encourage more families to attend the playgroup.

"Our building wasn't actually flooded, but so many houses nearby were, and playgroup gives those kids a chance to interact and take part in play, even if they no longer have their own toys," she said.
