IS THIS Australia's nicest man?

Jon "Huge" Hart, as he's been dubbed on Facebook, has bought food to be donated for Christmas, earning him praise from the community for his efforts.

The Toowoomba man has gone through his share of tough times and now wants to help out others in similar situations.

The idea to help out with food hampers came to him when he noticed a "massive amount" of food items in a Toowoomba shop that were heavily discounted.

So because he had a little money to spare, he purchased two trolley loads of the food and posted to the Things for Sale in Toowoomba Facebook group to find people to donate them to.

"I bought breads, cakes, donuts, pull aparts, hamburger rolls and hotdog rolls to give away to families in need who are doing it a bit hard this Christmas," he said.

Luke Nash, a member of the same Facebook group, praised Mr Hart for his efforts.

In a Facebook post, he wrote: "ATTENTION ALL, if you see this guy shake his hand. Do not hesitate, just do it. So many times I have seen him post things for free and the latest being food for people doing it tough, which he paid for off his own back."

"What a champion."

Mr Nash said he had never met Mr Hart in person, however had "just seen all the good he does for others and thought he deserved recognition".
