A TOOWOOMBA rescue team has assisted a girl who was gored by a goat yesterday.

The girl was airlifted to a Brisbane hospital overnight by RACQ CareFlight Rescue after she was gored by a goat in Queensland's Western Downs region.

The school-aged child sustained a suspected abdominal injury in the attack, which happened about 6pm.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue's helicopter was dispatched from the Clive Berghofer CareFlight Centre in Toowoomba shortly after 7.30pm.

The injured girl was retrieved from Jandowae Hospital and flown to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in a stable condition.
