Toffees come unstuck against Championship team

FOOTBALL: Everton manager Ronald Koeman must refocus on the English Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Saturday after a shock defeat in the English Football League Cup.

The Toffees lost for the first time this season as Championship side Norwich City won 2-0 at Goodison Park in round three.

Everton takes on Bournemouth this weekend and will look to continue its impressive league form, with Koeman saying the team must get back on track.

"We're happy with the league but disappointed with this,” he said. "From tomorrow we need to prepare for Bournemouth. It's no reason to stay down.”

Bournemouth was also beaten by a Championship outfit, going down 3-2 after extra time to Preston North End.

Chelsea defeated Leicester City 4-2 after extra time, thanks to two goals from Cesc Fabregas.

Liverpool won 3-0 at Derby, while Arsenal had a 4-0 victory over another Championship outfit, Nottingham Forest.

In other results Leeds defeated Blackburn 1-0, Newcastle beat Wolves 2-0 and Brighton lost 2-1 at home to Reading.
