Thousands using Bradfield Bridge

THE new Bradfield Bridge is a hit with the people of Ipswich.

Mayor Paul Pisasale today released details from the first official count taken last Thursday between 6am and 9pm. He said the number of users was a huge vote of confidence in the new footbridge.

“Even I was surprised by the high number of 2808 people using the footbridge last Thursday, especially given that was the day we had a huge thunderstorm.

“More interesting is number is roughly the same in each direction – 1429 north to Riverlink shopping centre and 1379 south to Ipswich City Square.

“The busiest hour was at lunch time when 477 people used the bridge.”

Cr Pisasale said the footbridge would continue to be popular and the growth of Ipswich Central would also bring more people to the heart of the city.
