Thief commandeers front end loader

POLICE are hunting a man who stole a front end loader from a tyre processing site at New Chum this morning.

It was thought the brazen thief walked into the Chip Tyre business, which is situated at the end of a dirt track a few kilometres off Redbank Plains Road, about 9.30am and drove off in the machine while the operator was having a coffee break.

The 20-tonne Kawasaki loader was taken for a short joy ride before being parked at Buschman Close, Redbank Plains.

Residents told police they saw a man sprinting through backyards in the area shortly after the loader was abandoned.

Anyone with information that could assist police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
