NEED a new pet?
RAAF Base Amberley is looking to add new genes into its military dog outfit and has about 10 dogs up for sale.
They're a mix of male and female German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois.
Some are young, about 12 months old with dogs up to five years available.
The female brood bitches are being offered so new females can bring in genetic diversity while some of the dogs available just didn't make it through the development program.
Flight Sergeant Andrew Presneill said the military needed dogs with specific characteristics and these ones would largely be more suitable as pets.
"We're looking for certain traits in a dog such as a stable temperament, bold and outgoing personality," Sgt Presneill said.
"They will make good pets and that's essentially why they are being released."
The dogs will be available for viewing on Friday and will only be sold via tender.
