Majesty of rock and roll
THE "rock event of the year", combining five of the world's best rock'n'roll tribute bands, is set to get Ipswich's heads banging at the Racehorse Hotel.
Musicians will honour Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Deep Purple and The Doors when they perform in the aptly dubbed Masters of Rock concert on Saturday.
Peter Timms, who performs as rock legends Axl Rose and Bon Scott, said the show would be a rock fan's dream come true.
"The Masters of Rock show is the culmination of everything we've done to date. The concept for the show started back in 2002 and came from years of performing faithful reproductions of our favourite music, classic rock," he said.
Timms said Masters of Rock was designed to represent multiple eras of classic rock.
"I set out to create a stage show that would generate the excitement of seeing the real bands live in concert," he said.
"Fans describe the show as the next best thing to the originals themselves."
The show's cast presents a stunning showcase of rock's elite featuring all the platinum hits of the five rock bands.
The highly acclaimed three-hour stage show has travelled across Australia and is ready to perform in Ipswich.
"Masterpieces such as Stairway to Heaven, Smoke on the Water, Sweet Child o' Mine, Roadhouse Blues, Thunderstruck and many more are all faithfully reproduced in the show," Timms said.
The Masters of Rock show musicians perform live, in character and in costume, using replica instruments backed by state-of-the-art sound, lighting and video special effects.
"We feel it holds up to some of today's big-budget productions on the concert stage, and it rocks," Timms said. See the Racehorse Hotel website at racehorsehotel.com.au/ or phone 32821222.
