Massive cruise ship is about to flood Gladstone with money

THE Gladstone region is set for a big economic boost today as P&O cruise ship, the Pacific Eden arrives.

Feast on East Markets will hold their first twilight markets to welcome the ship's maiden voyage to Gladstone.

The markets will run from 10am-8pm at the East Shores precinct.

There will be live entertainment on all day, and a free Tai Chi class at 4pm. Communities for Children will have a free scavenger hunt for the kids to get involved in.

Gladstone Area and Promotion Development Limited tourism and business development executive officer Karen Sweeney said there would be new stalls at the markets.

Ms Sweeney said the markets, the cruise ship ambassadors and everything else helped make Gladstone such a great place for cruise ships to visit.

Out of the 1500 passengers, about a third had already booked tours yesterday morning, and more were expected.
